“All you need is already within you, only you must approach your self with reverence and love. Self-condemnation and self distrust are grievous errors. Your constant flight from pain and search for pleasure is a sign of love you bear for your self; all I plead with you is this:  make love of your self perfect. Deny yourself nothing – give your self infinity and eternity and discover that you do not need them; you are beyond.” – Maharaj, from – I AM THAT

4/20/10…my reflections

Perfect self love IS the answer.

Perfection is experienced as the unstoppable flow of love towards all.

Jealousy, anger, distrust, fear, irritation, are only mirrors to see where self love is blocked.

Beware and forgive the mind who distorts and projects onto others an endless not so fun house charade.

Make up no other story than,  “The mind is lost and needs direction.”

Trust and discover that for every distortion, there is an exit.  Be still and earnest; focus on the timeless sense of I AM and be free.

Love…ME

“The name will not change you. At best it will remind you to behave.  It is the emotional involvement, the pattern of likes and dislikes which we call character and temperment, that create the bondage.

Do not be afraid of freedom from desire and fear. It enables you to live a life so different from all you know, so much more intense and interesting, that, truly, by losing all you gain all.

From moment to moment you are renewing it. Once you see that you are dreaming, you shall wake up.  But you do not see, because you want the dream to continue. A day will come when you will long for the ending of the dream, with all your heart and mind, and be willing to pay any price; the price will be dispassion and detachment, the loss of  interest in the dream itself.” – Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

What is…

A longing to wake up.

Sitting by harbor in the sun listening to skinny love by Bon Iver.
Everything is perfect.

I let go of all resistance.
I saw a dog stop and refuse to move.  There was humor, yet compassion.

Keep moving little doggie, ride the waves of fear into their deep trough. Watch and feel as they pick you back up.

Change is the breath of life; our birth and death the inhale, exhale.

One conscious breath is the doorway.  Enter anytime, any place…while you can.

To miss the entrance is both easy and tragic…so close, yet so far.

love is everywhere

Did you get what you came for?

If today ended up being the last day of your life, could you wholeheartedly say you got what you came for?

I did…and while I feel like I’m just getting started, there is no question that love IS the point, the ultimate destination.

Everything else is just a detour or unfortunate delay on the love journey.

Never fear, love IS here…waiting.

“Who could ask for anything more?”  – Stephen Hawkings

This one takes the cake – Powerful beyond measure.  Tony Robbins’ cake that is, Happy 50th birthday Tony, thank YOU for the gift!

Be careful, this video might make you want to do one of these…

on top of the world

on top of the world

Whatever it is you want to do, do it.  Spring is here to help us, ride the wave of growth!

Talking about “it”.  It doesn’t matter what “it” is, I’m going to stop talking about it.  I’ve been talking about a lot of things over the past few years, and I’ve finally heard enough.

nobody cares

Mostly I’ve been talking about the benefits of giving up alcohol, flour, sugar and coffee.   But then I found myself talking about how I had a little sugar, flour or coffee and and how I really need to give them up again.
Turns out mom was right, “talk is cheap”.
To do, is to decide.  To talk, is to think out loud.  No matter how much you talk, actions always speak louder…

These days, I can’t wait to get to the bar.  Once an addict, always an addict.  In fact, most days, you’ll see me sprinting across the embarcadero square to get there by 7:15am.  Only 10 more hours to go until my next hit, 8 of which I hope to be asleep…

Luckily, I’m still sober.

saddle up

It is true, I’ve given up my old bar stool for 50 minutes of thigh burning, calf squealing, lifts, tucks and squeezing 5 times a week.  I’ve gone to 16 classes over the past 3 weeks and I’m 100% addicted.  I’ve even convinced our in house attorney to negotiate a corporate rate (still in process).

WARNING:  Possible withdrawal symptom may include accusations from your husband describing you as “cranky”.  Such symptoms are normal after 48 hours away from the bar.  Pedicures, shopping at Lulu Lemon and green tea lattes may help.

Happy Valentine’s Day weekend!

Nick and I have been enjoying each other all weekend, hiking, sleeping in, spring cleaning and eating lots of treats!  The sun is finally out and the flowers and grasses are bursting with fragrance and color.  Seven years ago today Nick and I started talking seriously about marriage as we planned our final year before the big cruise.  Mexico was our first destination; a beach wedding was our dream.  It is hard to believe how much has happened over the past 7 years…

We would have never predicted that we’d be right back where we started from 7 years later.  We’ve been together for 17.5 years and weathered many storms.  We set sail 7 years ago in search of a more simple way of life, and thankfully we have found it.  It turns out the wise masters are correct…there is no journey.  Only ceasing to journey is required.  What a relief!

THANK DOG!

Welcome to my little corner of the universe!  As I round the bend towards my 37th lap around the sun, I’m excited to share my observations on life with anyone who cares.  I studied Anthropology and Astronomy in college and my favorite saying used to be, “we’re just a bunch of monkeys sitting on a rock, flying through the universe”.  This still makes me laugh, but I’m proud to say my language and database of experience has evolved quite a bit.  I can honestly say, with all things considered, I LOVE GETTING OLDER!!

Megan and Nick in 50 years

Okay, not this old…although this looks pretty entertaining.  I don’t mean to make light of dementia, especially since it runs strong in my family genes along with alcoholism, which is why I thought it might be a good idea to quit drinking 3 years ago.

So what is “spiritual dementia”?  The saying, “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience” is starting to make more and more sense to me.  Forgetting your daughter’s name is sad, but forgetting you came from infinity and beyond is just plain tragic.   Seriously, have you been to a planetarium lately or seen black holes – the dark side of infinity?

The data is in people, and we’ve got to wake up before the mental dementia sets in and we’re hosed.
